Communications and Engagement Lead

US or UK (Remote) 

We are looking for a talented Communications and Engagement Lead to help advance the mission of the Frontier Model Forum by expanding its reach and research-driven thought leadership.  As Communications and Engagement Lead, you will be responsible for implementing an integrated communications strategy across our website and publications, media relationships and outreach, and public and private events. 

You will have a passion for writing about artificial intelligence (AI) and an ability to translate complex technical issues into accessible and informative messaging for policymakers and the broader public. You will work with Forum leadership to build a strong and trusted brand centered on AI safety while also carrying out a wide range of communications tasks, including developing and posting content on social media channels, editing and promoting publications, and managing public and private events. 

About the FMF

The Frontier Model Forum (FMF) is an industry non-profit dedicated to the safe development and deployment of frontier AI models. By drawing on the technical and operational expertise of our members, we aim to 1) identify best practices for frontier AI safety and support the development of frontier AI safety standards, 2) advance AI safety research for frontier models, and 3) facilitate information sharing about frontier AI safety among government, academia, civil society and industry.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Communications Planning 

  • Support Forum leadership in developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy
  • Manage relationships with FMF member firms communications leads
  • Identify and cultivate new audiences and channels to increase the Forum’s reach
  • Oversee longer term projects and activities such as organizational branding, website design, event promotion, and policy paper rollouts 
  • Monitor AI news and research, staying abreast of key developments of relevance to the FMF
  • Manage relationships with journalists, media, and external communications contractors

Website and Social Media

  • Regularly develop and manage social media posts for the Forum’s X and LinkedIn pages
  • Keep the FMF website updated with press releases, blog posts, and technical white papers, and best practice recommendations
  • Coordinate with graphic designers and website developers to make regular updates to the website

Publications and Editorial Pipeline

  • Support and manage the editorial process for publications, including overseeing review and revision, final proofreading, and final layout 
  • Oversee publication of products to the website 
  • Draft press releases and managing promotion of new publications 


  • Help to develop and manage public events, both in person and virtual
  • Design and execute comms strategies to promote events
  • Develop and maintain invitation list for public events  

About You

In order to set you up for success as Communications Lead at Frontier Model Forum, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • 4-7 years’ experience in communications (scientific or technology communications preferred)
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence topics, including deep learning models, natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong editing skills, with demonstrated experience generating high-quality content for various media outlets
  • Demonstrated leadership in planning and executing a comprehensive strategic communications program to advance an organization’s mission and goals
  • Experience supporting the development and branding of an organization’s website
  • A track record of implementing communications strategies on a global scale 
  • Demonstrated success in proactively building relationships with top-tier reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements
